Your job-application spreadsheet, kept with Claude

tracker-mcp is a free, open-source program that connects an AI assistant (Claude, or any client that speaks the Model Context Protocol) to the spreadsheet where you track your job applications. The assistant answers from it, tells you which follow-ups are due, and records what happened, and nothing is written without your yes.

You: Which follow-ups are due this week?

Claude: Three. Acme (applied 17 Sep): nudge Sarah Kim on LinkedIn, two days overdue. Globex: due Thursday, no contact yet. Initech: due Friday.

You: I can't reach anyone at Globex until Monday. Move it.

Claude: Row 8, Globex: follow-up date 23 Oct → 27 Oct, and a note in the follow-up log. Write it?

You: Yes.

What it does

Follow-ups by your rule

10 days after applying, then every 14, weekends moved to Monday; the assistant reminds you what is due.

Silent applications

Finds what has not answered in weeks and closes only the rows you pick.

A real funnel

Submitted → replied → screening → interview → offer, by channel, source or month.

Safe writes

You see the exact cells before anything changes. Backups, an audit log and undo.

Your spreadsheet stays yours: you keep opening it in Excel or Google Sheets, sorting and editing it. tracker-mcp reads your own headers and dropdowns; it does not impose a template.

Where your tracker can live

TrackerWhat tracker-mcp touches
Excel (.xlsx) or CSV fileThat file, a small config next to it, and a backups folder. Nothing leaves your computer.
Google SheetsOnly the spreadsheet you pick in Google's own file picker when you sign in. Nothing else in your Google account.

Google Sheets: sign in once, pick your sheet

Run

uvx tracker-mcp auth google

Your browser opens Google's sign-in page and then Google's file picker. Choose the spreadsheet with your applications. tracker-mcp asks Google for one permission: see, edit, create and delete only the specific Google Drive files you use with this app (drive.file). It cannot see your other files, your e-mail or your contacts. The sign-in is saved on your computer only, and you can withdraw it at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

tracker-mcp reads the cells of the spreadsheet you picked and, after your confirmation, updates them, for example sets a status or a follow-up date. It talks to Google directly from your computer; there is no tracker-mcp server, and the developer never receives your data. Details: privacy policy.
